Scoring Workshop, the Professional
Composer's Workshop, and completed the Paths'
Electronic Music Seminars. Studied classical guitar
with Isaac Nicola, Leo Brouwer and Martha Cuervo. Former lecturer-demonstrator
for the Hispanic Academy of Media Arts and Science, composer/sound designer for
Marymount Manhattan College, Music Instructor for Fieldston Summer Performing
Arts Institute. Taught workshops in composition using computers, synthesizers,
and MIDI technology. Began professional career as a performing guitarist of
classical and popular music, then became in-house arranger for the Musicians'
National Union in Cuba. Currently composer-arranger for TV Radio commercials (SGM
Music), as well as guitarist performing throughout the tri-state area.

Music. Studied with Richard Provost, Dominick Minassi, Juan Della Mata (Madrid
Conservatory), Patrick OBrian, Albert Valdes-Blain, Alan De Mause, Gene
Bertoncini, Carlos Barbosa-Lima (Brazil), and attended master classes with Jose
Reg Della Torre (Cuba) and Oscar Ghiglia (Italy). Taught at The Julius Hartt
School of Music (University of Hartford), The Guitar Study Center of the New
School (NY), Sessione Siencese (Italy), SASI (Slovakia), and SESC (Brazil);
Artist/Performer for Young Audiences NY. Currently on the faculty at Bergen
County Community College. Has performed and recorded with such world-class
musicians and singers as Judy Collins, Jimmy Roselli (in the film Neapolitan
Heart), Susan Mc Keown, Mark Gross, Mulgrew Mille, Glen Velez, Cristina
Fontanelli, Ivan Thomas and many others; recorded for the film Gloria,
(with Sharon Stone), as well as on numerous jingles for TV and radio. Has
performed in concert, with both classical music (as solo guitarist and with
chamber ensembles) and traditional Southern Italian music with the group Pupi e
Fresedde throughout Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Slovakia, and
Scotland; tours Brazil regularly with his String Ecstasy Trio. Has performed at
Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Guggenheim Museum, Metropolitan Museum,
Smithsonian Institute, UCLA, the Field Museum in Chicago and the Philadelphia
Museum of Fine Arts, the San Francisco World Music Festival, World Music
Institute, Central Park Summer Stage and at the Jones Beach Theater where he
opened for Sting, together with Palestinian oud and violin master Simon Shaheen
and his group Quantara. Co-founder and musical director of the Italian
music, theater and dance troupe, "I Giullari di Piazza," artists-in-residence at
the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and the Caramoor Center for Music and the
Arts in NY. Conducts workshops and lectures on acoustic guitar styles,
ethnomusicology, world music, writes for Acoustic Guitar magazine, and is
the author of Traditional Southern Italian Mandolin and Fiddle Tunes.
